  1. The above application may be dropped off at the Madison Regional Airport Terminal 7 days a week between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. Application may also be completed electronically at the bottom of this page.
  2. You must be at least 16 years old to volunteer! (Applicants under 18 are required to have parent or legal guardian attend the intake interview)
  3. Be ready to work! Unproductive and/or uncooperative volunteers will not be tolerated!
  • No Phone – The use of a personal phone the work period is prohibited.
  • No Friends – Do not bring friends with you, they will be asked to leave.
  • No Smoking – Smoking will not be permitted during the work period. 
  • Work Ethic - ​Be a HELP and not a HINDERANCE.
***Madison Regional Airport reserves the right to deny ANY individual in need of court ordered community service hours the ability to volunteer with the airport based on the nature, type and/or specifics of their offense. 

Community Service Activities

*Activities include but are not limited to the following:
Indoor
Outdoor
Cleaning activities such as:
  • Vacuuming
  • Mopping
  • Dusting
  • Cleaning Windows
  • Cleaning Bathrooms
  • Mowing
  • Weed Trimming
  • Weeding
  • Using Leaf Blower
  • Painting
  • Cleaning Exterior of Buildings
  • Cleaning Windows
  • Power Washing
  • Cleaning Equipment & Vehicles

Expectations For Work to be Performed

All volunteers are expected to abide by the rules of Madison Regional Airport and to act responsibly and respectfully. ​While actively performing community service hours, volunteers are to stay busy. When given tasks, volunteers must 
complete them in a timely and professional fashion. When finished, volunteers must report to a staff member 
to be assigned the next task. Volunteers must make good, productive use of time during the entirety of each 
shift. Failure to stay busy, taking excessive breaks, leaving the premises, etc., are all grounds for dismissal.     ​

​If customers ask you questions please refer them to an airport staff member.  

Dress Code & Behavior

Dress Code
All volunteers are expected to look presentable as Madison Regional Airport prides itself on on its professionalism as well as its welcoming atmosphere. Dress appropriately for the work and weather. 
  • Jeans , closed toe shoes, and T-shirts may be worn but may not be lewd/obscene or contain references to cult or gang  activities.
  • ​​Volunteers should dress in clothes that do not have any sentimental value, because there is a lot of cleaning work, and  clothes may get dirty or stained.​
Behavior
  • The use of drugs/alcohol will not be tolerated. If volunteers are observed using drugs/alcohol or are suspected of being under the influence, the police will be called. 
  • Abusive, lewd or obscene language and gestures will not be tolerated and will be grounds for immediate dismissal. 
  • Disrespectful conduct and negative attitude with staff, clients, or other volunteers will not be tolerated. ​

Cancellation and No Show Policy

Scheduling
(Walk in's not accepted)
Community service volunteers  must schedule shifts in advance with airport staff. This schedule will be set according  to the  availability of the volunteer and the availability of a supervisor. Do not schedule a shift if there is a possibility that you will have to cancel and reschedule. There is a strict 3 strike policy regarding No-shows and cancellations.
  • ​After 3 No-shows or cancellations any further scheduled work days will be considered cancelled and service no longer required. (No Exceptions) If an emergency arises, you must contact airport staff as soon as possible. 
***Hours will not be given ahead of time to satisfy probation meetings, etc. They are your hours to complete!

***Please note: The Madison Municipal Airport reserves the right to terminate the community service opportunity if the participant is in any way unproductive, disruptive, or in any other way negatively impacts the accomplishment of the daily goals or organizational image.
